Oracle pl/sql

Post by Baseball435 »

I found a book on it in my local library but don't know what it is. Anyone know?

Oracle is a type of database, and PL/SQL is the flavor of SQL used in it. It is very popular in enterprise business environments, but it is expensive for individuals, which pretty much puts it out of the range of casual developers. I think an average Oracle package for enterprise runs about $10,000, although some go up to $50,000. There are a couple of single-seat, restricted versions for down to $1000, but MySQL still does an admirable job in comparison, and it is hard to justify the cost for a simple PBBG.

I believe that it has the highest performance in high-traffic environments (taking into account fail-safes) of any RDBMS. But in my opinion it isn't $10,000 worth of better considering that MySQL costs $0. But for a medium-to-large company, $10,000 is peanuts to ensure the accessibility and safety of your data.

Yeah and I'm sure some companies could easily afford it
