I have now 2TB worth of stuff and my hard drive is packed. I need to compress down some of it. I will not use it enough to not compress it so I need a good zipper that compresses files waay down for storage. Free or commercial.

I'm not sure how well 7-Zip will work, but you could give it a shot. I've gotten some pretty good compression ratios with it.

Just get another drive, that's what I do

haha, man i really could reduce the size of most of this, I barely use half the stuff but do not want to delete it for future use. I am a digital pack rat.

I use 7-Zip and .7z format can be quite powerful for for compressing files, they say it give 30% - 70% smaller files than .ZIP but i haven't tested that personally.

Ye I am the same, I never delete stuff, got very old stuff on my drives (also a few TB's). But I go by the rule: "Why clean up when you can just buy another drive?"
My server can fit 16 drives by default, still got space for about 8 more or something....more worried about the SATA ports
