Well, Steve Jobs decided to explain away in an open letter about why Flash is not available for IPhone, IPad, or IPod Touch. He goes on a rambling letter about how they don't support it because it is not an open technology (because Apple is so about open technologies *snicker*), because it drains the batteries, and half a dozen other reasons.

But is anyone falling for this? The real reason is pretty obvious why there is no Flash available on these devices: Because over half of the apps in the Apple App Store are IPhone app versions of Flash applications that could then be accessed for free (or for pay through third-parties) in the web browser. Simple as that. It is not a knight-in-shining-armor move for the open standards community, nor an attempt to keep your batteries fully charged (why would they be making decisions about what you do with your charge anyway?). It is an attempt to keep the market cornered in their app store. Case closed.

It's ridiculous how people still love them more than anything.

Flash IS a resource whore though. So the point about using a hardware decoder over a software decoder to improve battery life is relatively valid regardless of Apple's personal goals behind it.

I'm just pissed that there blanket regulation may kill Unity.

Also, forgot to point out. HTML5 blows on iPhone / iPad too.
