My god this thing is ridiculous. The turbine engine alone runs $4000.

That is crazy lol. Only problem I foresee is, what are you doing on the controls when you can't see it? It looked like I flew so fast it went out of sight and hearing range in just a couple of seconds. If I had one, I would cry if I lost it in the sky and slammed it into a tree or the ground lol.

if i had one... i would be so tempted to nose dive it just to see the hole it made lolol.

alternitivly i would slap a camera on there and see the view lol

One of the local hobby shops around here actually sells a remote camera system for attaching to RC planes. They have entire console setups with joysticks and everything that you can just sit at and fly it based on the video feed, as if you were actually in the cockpit. It looked so cool I actually wanted to get one, but a decent plane and the setup ran into several thousand dollars lol. Nevermind getting a jet like this one lol

this isn't real.

1. Find me a hobby model to hold up to that speed.
2. Where is it storing the fuel/battery for that power?
3. Sound was waaaaaaaaay too loud
4. could not control it at those speeds, even with a camera, matter of fact have you ever used a plane with a camera system? Can't really tell where you are at half the time

there is a .09% chance I am wrong here but I use to fly RC planes and have several fuel model cars. I need more proof before I believe this. Not saying this couldn't be real but those guys were not flying it.

That thing is unreal!! I couldn't imagine flying it tho, it would be difficult to keep your eye on it, plus not wanting to crash that much money.

Although I must disagree with you for once Halls, nothing looks fake for this video
1. It probably isn't just a hobby model, it could actually have been built for high speeds (no research done, just playing devil's advocate)..
2. Fuel could be throughout the wings like in a real jet.. only uses two batteries, which are rather small looking
3. Sounds loud enough for a turbine engine, even for it's size..
4. It doesn't look like the controls are too impossible, he isnt making instant turns..

1. with what??? it has to be light enough to fly but strong enough to hold massive speeds
2. fuel = weight..batteries = weight...all that sound you hear is energy, find me two batteries that could turn a turbine to make a noise like that

4. but he is keeping something up in the air only a couple hundred feet that is going 100+ miles an hour... only takes a second to crash..

It's very real. Here is the site to buy the engines, and yes, they are over $4,000. And here is their gallery, which really shows this video's jet as being quite modest. Here is another one going just as fast, but the camera is trained on it better. And this one is just crazy, although it doesn't get anywhere near the crazy speeds due to its huge body size.

Honestly, the rc jet in the video above was likely made just for breaking a speed record, which would explain its odd liftoff on the rod and small, detail-less body. It likely would be crashed if used regularly and then the turbine recovered. But rc jets are real. I never knew they existed until this thread prompted me to look in to it. There is actually a thriving rc jet community, and tons of videos online. Most of them don't quite seem to hit the speeds of this one though due to larger, detailed replica bodies.

You are correct, but that doesn't stop people with big enough pockets to spend several thousand on an RC, but not big enough pockets to buy the real thing (which is a gap of millions of dollars lol)

It could be made with fiberglass? it didnt look like metal, but it didnt look like plastic.
The two batteries it uses are: 2500mA LiPoly battery pack

For what I know I could be the one that is wrong, but it all looks real enough to me, for $4000 for the engine, It better sound that loud and like a jet engine, I want my moneies worth.

i know they have jet engines and RC jets but not ones that go that fast
