well to be honest I am nto showing proper page building in these tutorials. I do not use body or head anywhere. That comes later for now it is not important.

you mean this ":" if so depending on the keyboard you have it will be placed differently.

On the qwerty keyboards it is the [shift] + [;] both pressed at the same time.

On the azerty keyboards it is the first button to the right of the [;]
as for the positioning it is done with absolute positioning with CSS, I would suggest reading over absolute attribute on the http://www.w3schools.com website

EDIT: Wow, just looked it up on wikipedia. That thing is evil! Why would the "A" key be in the upper left corner where your pinky has to press it?
