Well beta is well under way. I sent out some beta keys but made quite a few and have some left so I am giving them exclusively to Indie-Resource members. Just take one then post which one you took. I quoted some important info
Please remember that the game is in a early beta. Many features have not been activated or finished and much of the art are placeholders. I basically need people to play and report bugs and give comments and suggestions.
Some of the buttons are deactivated, like abilities in combat. This will come very soon.
You start off the game in Magellion City. Every building you see there except for the auctions are player owned. All equipment you see in shops and auctions were player made. I made nothing pre-beta. The entire economy is player ran. Explore, harvest materials to craft with, attack creatures to level, ect..just have fun and please please leave comments and bugs.

Me looking forward to being a zombie (I do believe it mentioned zombies being playable characters) =D.

Is the combat going to be different in the final release? The graphics in the screenshots of the zombies suggests a real-time combat, as usually less effort is placed into the graphics of turn based combats =).

you should actually check forum dates before assuming. As I mentioned on the FS forums and its in the main storyline Zombies are a part of Oasis. The new planets swamp gas has a strange effect on our dead. When Oasis crashed into the swamp the dead colonists became "undead".

But to better answer your question, yes Zombies are coming!! I am actually going to make it a live event for a month where I spawn tons of zombies for a month that will cover buildings and harvestables. You cannot enter a building or harvest without killing them first.

So what else can I expect to be different from the gameplay now and the gameplay when the game is released?

Welp time to give away some more shops!

I have a
material shop
armorshop
weaponshop

all to give away plus a 2 day pass to the next zone Oasis!! You will get a 2 day lead on everyone else and get to harvest materials not found in Magellion.

I currently have 2 contests in the process.

First is another Easter Egg Hunt. I have hidden a key under a Rock, tree, pond, salvage, ect.. somewhere in Magellion. You find the key and you win your choice of shop.

Second Contest..Concept Design Contest.
Design the next shop for Forsaken sanctum. What it does, why would a player own it, ect...For instance a shop I am working on now is a Garage. Players can build vehicles and travel the map faster.

Here are the judging criteria
1. Concept - How original is the idea and well does it play in to Forsaken Sanctum - 10 points
2. GamePlay - How much fun or help will it be to the players - 15 Points
3. Difficulty - How simple will it be to implement into the game - 10 points
4. Features - How well did the entrant design all the features - 15 points
5. Bonus - Artwork or concept work - 5 points

50 points total

Example - My garage if it was being judged...
1. Concept - Not extremely original yet it plays nicely into the setting and the game being we have large maps
2. GamePlay - It will help the players travel and I would make it fun by adding in different parts like engines, tires, hovercraft ect..
3. Difficulty - Moderately simple, no game rewrite, just make a shop and a way to fast travel
4. Features - I would include new materials players can find, different engine parts they can upgrade, and even a repair shop for vehicles!
5. Bonus - I am not the greatest artist but I would still try to make some of the materials or the shop building

Remember this is all concept. No artwork needed but will be worth an extra 5 points, or up to rather.

This contest starts right now and ends Wednesday at 12pm central standard time. I will also have a guest judging panel to judge the entrants. The judges will be announced at a later time but will include some well known Developers.

If you do not have a beta key then get one from the list and get to playing! A free shop is on the line here!

I am considering giving the FS engine to a team that will take it further than I am willing to. Its not complete so its going to take some PHP knowledge to continue it. I will even make some admin panels so that you can add in your own stuff very easily.

I am through with it. I have too many other things going on to continue this. This is not the way I pictured FS and I am sick of fooling myself into thinking it will be. FS will probably close for a good while to let me finish some other projects.

Tis a shame. But I'm sure you have more things under your sleave ;)
I would love to look at your engine halls but... I already have stuff to deal with :/

I can't wait to help test anything else you make however! :)

I really do hate giving it up but my day job has me writing apps in vb.net alot more now and I need to get caught up on that including I could get promotion for learning C++. So its just too much at once.
