Why would obj be out? Obj is a great model format for static objects. However I think the best choices to probably have would defiantly be .dae and obj.

You really need to take your damn meds :P. Also XP Dx10 drivers? Seriously dude we are just gonna use Opengl2.0/3.1 We don't need dx10. Directx10 is useless. Also I was busy with an exam or 2 this week. Another thing don't forget your meds :).

You seriously need your meds. Also we don't need directx10 why don't we just use Opengl and then not have to worry about supporting another API.

you mean coffee? nah i had too much of that at work

and YOU sir, can not speak of supporting an API!! hmm lets run those numbers again:
ZERO COMMITS

ok so that established, why is DX10 good and NOT useless?

well lets see...dx10/11 has GPGPU support, tessellation support, and improved multi-threading support ...does openGL 3.1 have this? NO!

yes cross-platform IS a target, but who here wants to code some native linux and mac GUI for us (and no, we can't use wxWidgets or any of those "cross-platform" gui frameworks simply because you can't use all the new styles provided from say vista and also we dont' want to use just primitive GUI controls) right now our goal is to get something done on the more widely used platform (aka windows). consequently, since directX10/11 runs faster and has a richer set of features on windows than with openGL , we'd want to use that as well...openGL support is obviously there too
