Have you considered moving the game to Big World Tech? It has all of the networking, monetary system, etc. stuff ready to go and is running 300,000+ player games right now(with server farms of course). However, it is still a very new indie offering (it was known as a $100,000+ engine until last week), so adventurous members of the MMORPGMaker.com forums have bought it and are checking it out as we speak. So far, everything we are hearing back is exceptional, but there are a few questions still unanswered. I just figured I would throw it out there since you are having problems with the low-level complexities of making an MMO (of which there are hundreds or even thousands).

Thanks for the advice...though I did look at it, and right now, its not in my budget to buy that software. I just spent what free money I did have on my new computer system...though I may consider it in the future!! :)

That and I really like using Unity...I have grown fond of it. I know that the networking part of it is very capable of doing an MMO. Wolf Quest was built entirely using Unity and they have multiplayer option built into it. Either single player or multiplayer on a home network OR together with thousands of people across the globe. This game was built by the Minnesota Zoo to have people learn about Wolves and have fun doing so.

I have the game, and its fun...so for now, I think I will stick with Unity, and will keep BWT in mind!! :)

So I been playing a lot of STO (Star Trek Online) and it has inspired me to return working on Undiscovered. However, due to the multi-player side, this will be left out for now, and become a single player game. More updates will follow as we make a huge turn with Undiscovered.

Wow you are really good at programming this game. Do you have to type any code or does the software you are using do that and you just put in what you want? And yeah i hope you stick with this game. I'm looking forward to it! :)

EDIT: what software are you using to make this?

There are a few scripts Unity comes with, but with the most part, everything is custom scripted. Granted right now, with the development of Undiscovered, it was originally supposed to be an online MMO, but have ran into many problems scripting the server side. So for now, it will be single player.

We have re-vamped everything in Undiscovered. Right now I am working on the concept art for the 3d artists, as well have also started placing the different star systems down one will have to travel too. Some systems you can go to that don't play a part in the story, but can still visit it, who knows what you might find. The object of trying to accomplish will be an open environment, meaning being able to travel anywhere in the galaxy.

We are using Javascript. With Unity 3D you can use either Javascript/Boo (Derivative of Python)/C #. Or a combination of all three, or two, doesn't matter.

I am the only programmer at the moment, and I have 2 3d modelers.

I think the best place to start with unity and learning the JS with it, is start with their tutorials they offer, its where I started at.

You can check their 3rd person tutorial and car tutorial, also their FPS tutorial.
