Sorry for the offtopic question but where did you get the pics for the game?

I will say this... if I ever get to that level and successfully build my own RPG, it will use pictures. Clean and simple.

I really like the idea of a dynamic world like Crocania, I'm curious to see how that will work out in the end.

How do you mean a complicated map system? Like you actually walk around the town rather than use links?

I think picture links work the same.

What might be fun is that each entry doesn't show what it is at first - it just shows an alley or an old house or such, instead of showing florendale armour, for example. You only know by going there! Once you go there, then it'll show what the place is after that. But before you have to explore the town a little! So towns aren't menu's, they are mysterious until you've explored them and gotten to know them. You could even just store what is and isn't explored in the session, and the player has to remember next time or explore again (with perhaps the option of buying a map of the town, which does switch a boolean in the database to show all locations are to be shown).

yeah that would be neat, a feature I was going to implement was adding in ally ways or dens, random things happen if you explore there in the towns.

Sounds cool - what if random things happen when you explore the alleys, and there's also a small chance each time you explore of permanently unlocking a new location (you discovered it), like a 5% cheaper blacksmith or something? Could even just keep the regular blacksmith location and overlay the price reduction on it (or whatever difference there is), to save on coding and formatting.

I prefer and am working on the idea of no 'links' but a set of buildings that you can see and you either know from experience or you have to check it our for yourself, throw in a few houses of average citizens, and a burly guard who WILL remember if you've been there before, and throw you out more forcibly each time..
