Xamarin.Forms

Post by Jackolantern »

I know that Xamarin doesn't exactly have the best track record with members here (right off the top of my head, I believe both Halls and Alan had bad experiences with it), but at least for app development, Xamarin.Forms looks like a major improvement. Basically, it is an API built in .NET with the help of Microsoft that is setup from the start for Xamarin and cross-platform app deployment (iOS, Android and WP). Classic Xamarin always seemed fairly hacky to me and to others; like you were trying to force C# to do something it wasn't designed to do. But supposedly Xamarin.Forms will make working with Xamarin almost like working with any other .NET project type.

Still pricey as hell, though.

I used Xamarin and it was nice. I enjoyed it. They actually just updated with Xamarin.Forms when I was almost done with my app so I didn't get a chance to use it.
