Destiny Planet View - webm+JS animations???

Post by Verahta »

https://www.destinyplanetview.com/en/

Inspecting the elements of this sites menu (planets) I was ignorant of what I was seeing. It seems to be that what I thought was JS animations is in fact very short webm video clips? What?

Can someone tell me what this technique is called so I can study it?

And next part. When you actually click on a planet to view it, what do you think they are using here?

Hmm, try a different browser? It works fine for me in Chrome on Win7.

They are using google earth.

Google licensed the technology to them so they could created their own worlds.

Thanks, what about the initial "menu" screen with the planets you can select (which would THEN take you to Google Maps/Earth). The planets move, and it seems to be webm clips, with JS. That is the part I was trying to understand.
