Creating a story/campaign for a RPG game?

Post by Sim »

Anyone got any suggestions for doing this? Is there a program for such a thing?

Maybe story branching as well? Is there a program for such a thing?

I would start with pen & paper prototypes, then translate them to digital prototypes on your computer. Could be something as simple as a word/office document or a storyboard, or a wireframe computer program.

Those above are free. This is probably overkill, but it is considered one of the better software programs for creating stories:

Looks a little interesting, but I think i will stick with pen and paper. I don't see no "Story Branching" features in these.

When I was creating a story for the game I'm working on, I started with a big idea (You may choose, say, save a princess. Ours was the kingdom was under attack). Then I decided how we wanted the story to end. Then I went back to the beginning and laid out a broad outline, and then went back and added in step-by-step what the player would do.
