Watch your Chrome Extensions

Post by OldRod »

http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/01 ... d-updates/?

Malware vendors are buying up Chrome Extensions and using them to send crap to your machines :(

Might want to keep an eye out for anything unusual.

ad blocker and restful client are the only two I use.

Good article and thanks for looking out!

I do think your computer should be considered the same as your house when it comes to the law. If they do anything inside your house they can be arrested or you have the right to shoot them on site.

Really with the XDK now a stand-alone product, I don't have any extensions. I tried AdBlock a few times, but honestly, I could hardly tell a difference when it was running.

really with ad blocker? It blocks everything, even you tube ads. I haven't seen an ad in forever. Especially awesome in facebook.

Maybe I should try it out again. This was years ago.

Ok, yeah, this is very different than it was when I tried it years back. Now that I think about it, I may have tried it back before Chrome even existed.

I do feel kind of bad for smaller website owners, though.

They don't. All major ad providers have been able to remove AdBlockers from CPM for years now. That is why every once in a while you have a fairly high-profile site lock out AdBlockers (they can do that easily), with some note about how they are going broke, only to remove the block within days amid a storm of angry press.

ahh then yeah but the whole ad system is trash anyways. TV, Magazines, Internet, the whole system is flawed.
