Do any of you know any relatively new indie sandbox MMO's?

Do any of you know any relatively new indie sandbox MMO's?

Post by Walrus »

I really like retro things, construction indies where you could make your own games and share them with others (beside 8BitMMO), I like exploration/adventure RPG's with terrain, blocky games, things with Legos, simulators, etc. I like a variety of things, but what I listed is predominantly what I'm looking for. I'm really wanting to join any new indie MMO's even if it's still under development, in pre-alpha, or if it's not done yet. I could alpha or beta test new indie MMO's too. Also, I love 8 bit graphics.

Also if this is placed in the wrong section, I am sorry, I'm a newb.

Have you tried Realm of the Mad God? It is a pretty interesting indie MMO. I don't know if it is really sandbox, but it is an interesting blend of shoot-em-up gameplay with a hardcore PvP MMO. It also has 8-bit style graphics :)

Thanks for the input, I've tried it last December, it was nice but too addicting for me, that's why I stay away from MMORPG's and FPS's, anything but those are fine by me.

Here is an interesting list of sandbox MMOs. There really aren't as many as I thought, but I guess that shouldn't be surprising. WoW's success really locked down the MMORPG industry and that is basically the template by default for all new games coming out.

Thanks for the help, but I know of all of those MMO's, and none of which I like. I know I'm extremely picky. I also like MMO's with relatively small communities.

There actually seems to be a fair amount of buzz around Repop, particularly in the sandbox MMO communities. :)

I remember when Repop was first being shared to all of us on mmorpgmaker. I had totally forgot about the project and cannot believe how far it has come. They did really well on kickstarter too

Just so you guys have an idea of what games I like so you can get a hang of my interests here is what I play: Blockland, KoGaMa, used to do ROBLOX, used to do Lego Universe but they shutdown, used to play Cubelands when they were in classic, I used to play Neverdaunt 8bit a cool indie-playground which is in development again, I play 2DWorlds, 8BitMMO, Subrosa, and that's really it. I don't particularly like games that are popular or so well-known. I like outlandish things.

Also please no Gary's Mod, Mienkrap or Terriaria recommendations.
