Computer Cleanout!

Post by 62896dude »

So I am working on several different projects at once, and with those and work both only needing a few folders, why do I have at least 70 different folders? Hahaha, I think it is time I go through them and clean out what I don't need anymore, how many other people feel the same way? :D

I felt the same way that I made a completely new user account to get rid of the clutter! I am a "Let's Player" on youtube if you didn't know what that is well...I don't know how to explain it haha but yeah I had at least 130 folders of all my game recording sessions and I got overwhelmed that when I wanted to pick up PHP browser game programming I just started fresh.

LOL, that`s just crazy! My notebook has 250 gigs of storage and I still have over 130gb free. My home computer has 1tb, I only use 190 gig. My NAS server has 2tb and still has 600gigs free. However, that little server only serves movies and series. Oh and some audio. All organized obviously :D

I tend to delete everything I don`t use. Same goes for software and games. I regulary check my games folder, if there`s a game I see which I don`t play, it`s going out. Same for software. Now, I know what you`re thinking: "ahh this guy`s using reg cleaner stuff and so on." Well, I`m not. I just hate, read HATE all the frikkin folders. All the clicking. Forcing to read all the folders just to get that one specific folder, blegh. And this didn`t use to be the case. I once worked as a front end developer at this company right, and while I was working there, I also did freelance work. At that time, I had one working folder which happened to be the root dir for my server. So all my projects were stored right there. At any given time ( especially in the end) I had over 250 project folders. Now, imagine you had to copy some files from one project to another... The scrolling.. the horror...

Since that time, I started cleaning up, archiving finished projects, all organized by company/freelance and/or project. Works like a charm :)
