Whats needed next

hey guys, i was thinking that along with this tutorial we could do a community project where each of us gets given a simple ish task, e.g. a script or two each and then we put them together bit by bit to make the whole thing?
any takers?
would take some organising but would be great to go in parallel with this tut...?

Not everyone here is really into (nor upto) the task of making a MMO through PHP/Ajax. But we do have a very nice ongoing community project going on here in the forums.

i think it would be a great learning experience, I say go for it. The current community project is Blitz3d and if you are trying to learn PHP that's not going to help much. If you get it organized and people working on it I will make you a topic for it.

or maybe we just throw ideas around and coding to change/improve the current project that halls doing .. .and still watch the videos to learn ??

either way, I didnt make much plans for the current video because I wanted the watchers to give me directions on where to go with it so people can learn what the want to learn and not have to watch a video series of someone making a game they care nothing about...like most videos out there.

I am stuck learning ASP.Net at the moment and it is taking up alot of my time. I am getting a break here shortly but I am working on a game that I have been dying to develop for some time. A browser based space game, with vehicles and ships, universal domination, and exploration.

RE the group task...
i think very soon we will know almost all of what we need to know from the (very good!) vids halls is doing so... instead of halls having to do all the coding which is a lagre task for one guy, espiecially as he is busy maybe once everyone is comfortable with php and mysql after watching the vids we could do somehting together here?
maybe we can put some basic designs together based on halls' stuff?

oh... i dont mean any vids cos halls' cover everything so far i think...

i meant that the guys like me that are watching the vids to learn this stuff could pull together and do something as a learning project.

because everyone doing their own little one will just make lots of little games but if we worked together we could make something quite good!
