A creative plot?

Post by 62896dude »

Hey there everyone,

I am in a bit of a predicament. You could call it writer's block :/

You see, in the current pokemon game that i am making, it is coming along magnificently! all sprites made, battle system made, etc. However, I was about to start making my maps (in RPG Maker XP) when I realized.. I don't have a plot! So i sat there for about 15 minutes, and nothing :( so alas, i came here! So this is a chance for anyone willing to help to get some creative juices flowing! Would anyone care to help me with a plot for my game that includes shadow pokemon and all regions? (this is more directed at people who do/have actually played pokemon) I am not asking for a full out storyline (though that would be nice ;) ) All that I need is even just the beginning of the story, so that I can start working from there!

Thanks,

How did you get this far if you started off with no story in mind to begin with? It's a legitimate question - whatever drove you before, did it run out? Do you need a story, or just more of whatever it was?

It is a very legitamate question! What I did was I found a starter kit online that had all of that stuff premade, which took care of that part of the game development, then I read the notes that the author made so that I was familiar with what he had done with it, and now that I am starting to make the maps, I realized that I shouldn't be making them yet if I don't know what my plot is. And I do have that drive still, as strong as ever :) I just am stuck, and trying to figure out where I want to go from here (I am at this point now formulating a storyline already, when it is finished, i will likely post it here for you guys to rip apart and critique :) (in a good way!)

Why shouldn't you be making maps?

Or more to the point, how about you just start to think of the map you were making.

Think about why you were choosing that map.

Think about what would happen in that map - what's going to go on there?

Just choose a map and start thinking about it, what's going to go on in it, and ... what your thinking of is story.
