Started a Blog

I decided to start a blog. You can find it here.

I had never really felt the need to start a blog, but, I finally got around to it. Originally I wanted to build my own, but after building one I decided I'd probably get more mileage out of something already that like blogger or wordpress or tumblr. I went with blogger, for reasons you can read in my first post.

Anyway, my question to yous guys is, do you have a blog? If so did you build your own, or do you use one of the blogging services out there? Why or why not?

I don't personally have one, but I do plan on writing in my blog on here after I have something development-related to talk about lol. At one point I was going to write my own blog application in ASP.NET, but then I just started thinking "Why?". Wordpress and the other high-profile blogger tools have been in development for years by tons of talented coders. What could I, as one person with intermediate coding skills do that would be better? Then I just figured I would only write a blog system if I actually wanted to write a blog system, and if I wanted to write a blog, I would use an existing application. Kind of an extension to the whole "use a game engine to write games, and only write engines if you want to make game engines" thing.

I started a blog on here for my game project!! I also have one on Wordpress, but haven't updated it in a long time.

I decided to steer away from building one, and just as Jack said, use one of the freely available versions online.

Yeah so far I'm glad I'm using blogger. It's decently easy to customize, and so far it's encouraged me to write a lot. I've got two posts up, and six drafts for future posts in only two days.

I don't want my posts to be too plain, so it's also encouraging me to start taking pictures! I'm kind of excited that starting a blog has got me thinking about new things. I'm always kind of looking for a subject for my next post now.

Just post five days a week and leave posts in various forums with your blog in the sig, and you might. And if five days a week sounds too much, posts don't have to come from deep within the heart. Heck, quite a few of my posts come from a comment I left on someone elses blog, then I reworded for my own blog. Just give something so that each new day someone can come back and see something new, and you might get a very popular blog (I should follow my own advice *sigh!*)

hehe. thanks for following me Callan. Yeah I hope to post often. Like I said I have 6 drafts for future posts that I'll probably mess with soon. I think that's what I'll probably do most of the time is just write a bunch of drafts when I'm in the writing mood, and later when I get some juicier thoughts on whatever subject they're on I'll finish them up (don't wanna post too frequently, lest I run out of things to say )

I also have a blog, though I should start posting more (would be a good place to dump my many prototypes and art). I decided to use Tumblr as I didn't particularly like Wordpress, and completely forgot about Blogger at the time.
