Apocalypse trail is something I have been wanting to do for at least 20 years. Remember Oregon trail? It was the Halo of its day. Was so much fun and addicting to play. I remember being excited to go to school just to play it!
For you youngins that don't know what it is

This in my opinion was one of the best games ever made. Period. There has only been one other game in my life to addict me as much as this one and that was Disciples 2.
I have always wanted to make a Apocalypse version of this game. I of course will copy nothing from the original other than the basic premise. A survival trek across dangerous lands.
I will also be adding to the original idea by making it a PBBG. Instead of one trek across the nation you will go from town to town delivering supplies. Each town has exports and needs. You build a caravan, hire workers, supply with fuel, food, ect.. and sell goods between cities. Each city has a route to another city or even cities. The farther the route the harder the journey will be but the more a certain good will be worth at that city.
You will level and earn cash as you go and will be able to continue to build your caravan and hire better workers.
Workers consist of
Hunters
Mechanics
Guards
Doctors
Chemists
and many more. You will also be able to buy your cargo trucks and other vehicles to help haul and protect your caravan. There will be many things in the wild to guard against.
Bandits
Starvation
Engine troubles
Wild Animals
Radiation Sickness and other sickness's
Mother Nature
and many more.
You will have a bar that represents your location and distance to the next town as shown below.

Each turn you travel a distance and you are in control of the turns so you could play straight through as long as you want. No waiting. Also playing through is instant but much more dangerous, while choosing to Auto play takes much longer but is safer. Basically if you choose Auto play each turn takes one real time hour but you can be logged out. If you choose to do the turns then you can play right through them.,
So if a town is 24 turns away you could auto play and it would take 24 hours or play through manually and it would probably take about 30 minutes. The downside is you will use up much more supplies and have many more encounter. You could also choose to manually play 12 then auto 12 or however you want.
Will post more updates as I go. I am taking this project much slower though and working on it here and there.
