Inde-Resource Money Game

Have a project in the works but not much media? How about an idea you are turning into a project? Maybe a game design document you want to start with. This is the place.

Inde-Resource Money Game

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

got the stocks section up
http://indie-resource.com/moneygame/login.php

it is not ties to the forum database. Just make a new account. This is just to mainly test the stock market side. I will add much more. You can buy and sell stocks. You can choose popular ones or even just enter your own symbol in so you can choose any stock with a symbol :)

Looking good so far!

A couple of things:

1. There may be a problem with Hewlett Packard. It is showing it is trading at $0. I resisted the urge to buy 20,000 shares of it :P I think I was able to buy about 10 of them ad confirmed that it was not reducing my total money. If you want to delete them to keep it fair for when they do fetch a correct value, that is cool :)

2. When you check your stocks, it would be nice to see how many shares you own, since it is kind of concerning to not see it recorded.

All in all, it is looking really nice so far!

do you mean when you go to check your stock to see its current value, to have it show how many you own?

Good idea, will get that done. Removed HP, added Google

Yes, that is what I meant. Thanks! :)

Some of these companies really need to divide their stocks! I wanted to buy some Google, but a single share is over $500 so I had to only buy one!

i noticed that and that brought up a concern. If google splits then owners here of it will get screwed. The price will split but you won't get two stocks ;) I need to find out a way to fix that.

I don't know whether you added it already halls, but I can see how many shares i own, its to the right of the prices. Its just the column is bblack, and text is black, so you can't see it.
Unless Im misunderstanding what Jack's asking

no he means if you go to check the current price of a stock, using the check any stock section, he wants to be able to see how of that stock he owns.

So in other words go to popular stock 1, then at the bottom you can check a single stock. once you enter in your stock it should tell you how many you own.

Great job halls! Just a suggestion maybe you could have a sidebar with all of your stocks in it listed like this
Adobe Systems Inc.:30
Mattel Inc.:35
etc etc.
:)
Coding-PHP, Javascript, C++, HTML, mySQL
Modeling/Art-Blender, GIMP
Games-Unity, Game Maker 8
