Oh cool, there is actually a D-Box theater 10 minutes from my house lol. Maybe I will have to check that out.
As far as the movie goes, I think it makes more sense for him to be a pedophile than just a child killer, and to actually look more like a burn victim. It is more of a grown-up, darker Nightmare on Elm Street than the originals. And actually, I would be happy if Freddy isn't the happy-go-lucky, wise-cracking guy he was in the original. That has already been done in 6 movies (I will never count New Nightmare lol). Instead, I would like to see a more serious, demented version of the originals with modern effects. I definitely don't want to see a new guy trying to be the original Freddy.

yeah D-box is 17 bucks a ticket here but its worth it.
and i also think a new guy trying to be the old freddy would suck . I want to see this actor bring his own side to freddy. Like Heith Ledger (may he rest in peace) brought his own side to the joker(in my opinion the best joker ive seen int he movie). But im going into nightmare on elmstreat open minded, and i hope i am not disapointed.

Re: Nightmare on elm street
Just got back from seeing this. I'm highly disappointed.
There was very little imagination in any of the dream sequences. Someone would just appear in the boiler room and Freddy would show up and stab them. While I realize this was a remake of the first film where that is basically all that happened to them, but it is a bit hard to swallow if you have seen the later, more creative NoES movies and think of what they could do with today's special effects and knowing what is known today about scary sequences in movies.
Also, the new Freddy does seem like he is trying to be the old Freddy. It is not quite as over-the-top, but he does try to make some jokes, etc. Speaking of the old NoES movies, the few scenes that existed in both the first movie and this one were actually better in the original. This includes the scene of the girl swinging through the air getting cut up (one of the best horror movie scenes of the 80's), the dream in the class room ("Oh Lord I could be bound within a nut shell..."), and others. There is only minor resemblance to the old film, but what is there was done better before. There is also some stupid plot elements, such as how important the "70 hour mark" and "micronaps" become.
I hoped for more slow-building creepy moments (like in The Ring), but instead the only thing you get is the old, played-out "jump out at you" scares, which are incredibly simple to do. I just can't help but think how much better it could have been.
