Looking For A Team.

Post by echo5 »

Hey everyone I'm Mike from Michigan, currently stationed in North Carolina. Ive been in the Marines since 1999, and I'm a big ol 30 years old. I have a wife and two kids, and I'm addicted to World Of Warcraft. In fact I'm a junkie. My other love of my life however is designing games, worlds, (levels), scripting, BASIC Programming, etc. I have a passion for building games. Ive been around the Realm Crafter, The Game Creators, Garage Games, 3D Game Studio, RPG Maker forums for years now. The reason I tell you a little bit about myself, is that this is my first post. So I'd like to throw a little bit of my experience at you first. If your interested, please respond here, or via private messages. Whatever is comfortable with you. I do a little bit of it all, specializing in none. If that makes sense. I know enough scripting, coding, level design, level editors to get around. So without further ado, here is what I have legally own, and my knowledge of that program or engine.

Engine: Current Skills:
3D Game Studio: Lite-C, level design, low poly model design, model/level layout
Realm Crafter: Level/World Design, Scripting, Basic custom scripts, Dungeon design master (If I do say so myself) 8-)
Blitz 3D: Programming (Intermediate skills)
DarkBASIC Pro: Programming (Intermediate skills)
RPG Maker XP/VX Tile/Sprite layout, Event scripter
3D World Studio: Basic model/building design
Torque Game Builder: Basic Scripts, Level design, Layout
Torque Game Engine: Level Design, Basic Scripting
Game Maker 7: Level Design, Complete game design/building, NO GML skills. :|
FPSCreator DX9/10: Level design, basic .fpi scripting, custom prefab/segments.
Multimedia Fusion 2: Basic Design, level layouts. (Just purchased)
Milkshape: Low Poly models, basictexturing! Buildings/props.
AC3D (modeling) Low poly Models, basictexturing! Buildings/props.
Indie Game Maker: I'll be honest, I purchased, and haven't touched it.
Unreal Development Kit: Basic Level/World design, Walk Throughs.

Now with this being said, remember I said "master of none". Ive been on my own doing game design since about 2002, and I figure its about time to join a team, put our resources together, and complete something! I am simply looking to complete a project from start to finish. I am going to Westwood.edu for Game Software Development, hoping to land a job in Artificial Intelligence, and or User Interface design. A completed project only looks better on a resume I may prepare in the future. I love all game types, and genres, from RPG, to FPS style. Even turn based is fun. 2D or 3D. I would like to get with a team that has the idea, concept, story boards, complete. I am not a game writer really. So I need someone who has that covered. I don't wanna get with a team that says "we can come up with something together". I would like the idea already there. ;)
I am also currently working on a few small games myself, so I will be able to dedicate about 10 hours per week to your project. I am available for chat via yahoo, and or e mail or PM's through this site usually 7 days a week. If the project is going well, and we foresee a release date, I can work more during 'crunch' time. I am working for free here, and to just build up a resume. This is all in fun. If you have any other questions, or comments, feel free to post them. If your inquiring about samples of my work already done, I unfortunaltey don't have any available at this time. I will post at a later time however. Thanks for reading.

Oh man good thinking Halls.
I'd like to do
3D or
2D
Any game type is fine as long as it's realistic. Don't tell me where going to be WoW, or what not. Im to old for those lies..
I'll be honest I havent worked a lot with browser games, so it kind of depends what you are going for in that, or what you would like me to help you with.

I like RPG's , FPS's, Adventure, Action. Horror would be fun. Anything is really a go with me. Just wanting to complete projects.

Thanks JP, my teacher said the same thing during a stupid web cam classroom meeting we could participate in for extra credit. I dont do so well on test so extra credit is good credit. I think he just liked the fact I argued, and told people what I thought rather then sit back. Anywho. Thanks for the replies everyone! :D Also JP, if you do need any more help with your game let me know what I can do. Id be interested in a browser based game.

@ Rock. I you have story and concepts done, I will glady help with getting something done. Even if it was a few multiplayer maps put together for fpscreator. Im working on some now for UDK. UDK is a lot of fun! If none of you have checked it out I highly recommend it. Its free, and comes with 3.43 gigs of video tutorials on how to use it. Cant go wrong.

yeah i have definately tried out the UDK, but i havnt started the full on learning process yet.
Although it is quite similar to the hammer editor in the way it works if i remember, you can see some of my work with the hammer editor in the project showoff 2 area. I think today il have a go with the UDK and see what i come up with :)
