Have any of you seen this movie?

I've seen it at IMAX twice now. It's a truly epic movie, and I'd say its one of my favorite of all time. The acting, the story, the action, just the entire world..It's absolutely breath-taking.

I just hope that one day I will be able to work on a movie as groundbreaking and mindblowing as this.

For anyone who has not yet seen Avatar in theatres, go. Right now. If you don't see it in 3D in theatres you'll be missing out on one of the greatest films of the decade, imo.

From what I understand, is James Cameron (Director & Writer) has 2 more movies lined up to go with Avatar...at least Sam Worthington (Jake Sully) signed up for two more films...

The movie cost $500M US to make, and its the first movie to gross over $1B US in less then 5 weeks...WOOT! Go James Cameron!

Exactly. They created an entirely new world that is absolutely amazing. It's been a while since I've wished I could actually jump into a movie before, lol.

In a pre-opening discussion with MTV News, Cameron spoke at length about his plans for his burgeoning sci-fi franchise and where the story will pick up following the first film's game-changer of an ending: Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) successfully and permanently transfers his consciousness to his big blue Na'vi avatar after falling in love with Princess Neytiri (Zoe Saldana).

Cameron made clear that the next film won't be a prequel, recounting previous backstory, but will begin after the events of the initial movie. "We'll follow Jake and Neytiri," he confirmed.

In fact, Cameron intends to follow the couple for another two films. "I have a trilogy-scaled arc of story right now, but I haven't really put any serious work into writing a script," he said.

The next two films, however, won't necessitate the four years of production time that "Avatar" took to perfect its motion-capture technology and computer-generated environments and beings. "Part of what we set out to do is create a world and create these characters," Cameron said. "From the time we capture and finish the capture, it's literally nine to 10 months to get the CG characters working, to get their facial musculature working. ... So now we have Jake, we have Neytiri. Sam can step right back into it, the characters will fit them like a glove, and we'll just go on. So a lot of the start-up torque that had to be done for one movie really makes more sense if you play it out across several films."

I'm so stoked. lol.

It's definitely not, and it is definitely a must-see. You'd be missing out on one of the biggest hollywood-changing movies to date.

its technical epic, the animation is so brilliant and the 3d is so unbelivable its like the people it the film are in the cinema. altho the story is great aswell i cant help feeling like its a bit of a rip of the classic cowboy n indians movie, dancing with wolves, except this time around its just got people and aliens in the future. and also it way cooler! it was money well spent, but im not sure if i will get the dvd cause i would want the reald 3d aswell but you cant exactly have that yet at home on a standard tv. if you havn't seen it, go, cause you wont regret it.

It's all mo-cap animation. All of the movements you see from the avatars were actually done by the actors. I found this really cool behind-the-scenes video showing some of the mo-cap stuff.
