Great idea! I've spent most of yesterday and today Googling for just this very thing... if I'd found anything that looked good, I'd post it here :(

So far everything I've found is either old and broken... or total crap. I'm still searching!!

World of Phaos: http://sourceforge.net/projects/phaosrpg/ - Apparently, the author is working on a newer version, but I'm not able to find a link to the code - not sure if it's open source or not. http://worldofphaos.com/index.php?site=magewar

Legend of the Green Dragon: http://www.lotgd.net/home.php?

PHP RPG: http://phprpg.org/ - unfinished, but open source

Nice links Halls - but wow, there's practically no info at all about those games on their sites... Irdya at least has some screenshots.

I've spent *way* too long looking the past couple of days...

haha i do understand that. Me too. Many of these OS games have bad reviews or little info because they are lacking only a little bit or people do not know how to get them going due to lack of instructions. We can fix that and I would be happy to help anyone get one working.

On the flip side if anyone finds a good looking one that they don't want to fool with let me know. I might be able to do something with it.
