Not to even mention the fact that MMOs in the days of Unreal 2 had inferior network architecture compared to modern games. The early days of DAoC, for example, were plagued by EQ-style jumpiness, "character teleporting", rampant DCing, etc., even when played on broadband. That was just excepted as the norm for those days. Unless the network code was rewritten from the ground up, it would likely be facing the same fate as similar ilk of its day. And I doubt it was rewritten, because if they did rewrite the network code from the ground up, why not just rewrite it on Unreal 3?
