GTA San Andreas Online
Gonna post this here because it might get deleted over at MMORPGMaker.
Probably the most fun I have had in 100+ player multiplayer ever! It can be called a engine as much as RC. It has a scripting engine that is very powerful and I have seen some servers that are pure RP that you have to do jobs(quests), build a reputation, craft, and much more. There are tons of servers online 24/7.
It is as much as if not more of a MMORPG as any recent Indie MMORPG I have played lately. The last server I was on had 190+ people playing at once. It ran very smooth. People were trading, raiding, fighting, racing, fishing, and just having fun. I even seen a guy spend his last bit of money to buy a helicopter(he fished and sold stolen cars for days to get the money) then fly it over a rival gang, about 15 members, then crashed it right in to them, I was riding shotgun, bodies and curse words went everywhere! Friggn hilarious!
I have searched everywhere before posting this for legal issues and everything and everywhere all says its 100% legal because the source was not touched at all and it has not broken the Eula. If anyone finds DOCUMENTED PROOF saying otherwise not what you think then please post it.
Anyways I have been fooling with the scripting and the game and been playing on various servers and it's quite fun. I am trying to see just how far the scripting language can take me for a truly unique world.

No you don't *cough cough*
Are you talking about SAMP? Would be good if we got an IR SAMP server going
With a nice customly coded server.

That is what I was thinking. Yeah Samp.
I still need to look into the scripting a bit more but it looks very customizable. I can even link the accounts to the forum database. Before I do I need to look further into the legality of Samp.

SAMP is perfectly legal. Its been around for years lots of websites use it. Rockstar encourage modding which is all it is. For every player all it does is put their npc character there and move is accordingly.

Re: GTA San Andreas Online
Odd, I didn't even know San Andreas had multiplayer lol. I played GTA IV multiplayer and was not that in to it, since it ended up being like most FPS multiplayer games where a few early adopters learn every nook and cranny of every map. Then you can't even learn how to play it multiplayer because you get killed before you can even take a step.
And by the way, why do you say this would be deleted on MMORPGMaker.com?

I didn't mean that in a bad way. Just that they can be very skeptical about legal things and are quick to delete or lock a topic if it is not 100%. Not the mods fault, just some people like to take arguing or discussing to a new level.
Actually mmorpgmaker has changed for the better over the past year. It has become more laid back.
GTA 4 multiplayer is nothing compared to Samp. GTA 4 is massive deathmatch kill em all type. Samp is very RPG orientated. Also many of the servers have custom maps and on many servers killing for no reason is jail time or you a kickable offense.

Yeah, I see what you mean now, as in MMORPGMaker perhaps having an issue with legality of it. It seems to be fine, thoughhallsofvallhalla wrote:I didn't mean that in a bad way. And maybe MMORPGMaker got more laid back when I became a mod
Anyway, to get it back on topic, does anyone know where to get a cheap copy of San Andreas for PC? Since it is a few years old, I would figure you could pick it up for $5 or $10 somewhere.

I had a copy but a direct to drive place ought to have it or ebay. Make sure you do not get 2.0 or the steam version. As usual the steam version doesn't work properly.
