Video Editors

Post by Sharlenwar »

Not sure where to post this, so I'll post it here. I'm looking for a new video editor, and so I want some feedback on what you all use, if any. I'm okay with paying for some software, as long as I know it is good. A lot of the crap out there you can download and try in a trial, seems to work. But then a year or so later, seems like the program itself starts to not function as expected.

So anything good out there? Google is useless as usual.

It pretty much depends of the quality & budget you are looking for.

For professional (or nearly) grade softwares like:
Adobe After effect / Adobe premiere
Final Cur Pro (Mac)
Nuke (The Foundry)

are the way to go. Expect high prices.

On the cheaper / indie / hobby level:
Magix Movie Maker
PowerDirector
Pinnacle Video

Could do the trick.

Keep in mind to check very well what kind of source you use. For example PowerDirector don't work well with the videos produced with my phone and is extremely slow. While using Magix it works perfectly.

Also those cheapo softs tends to offer "premium" version which includes more effects and content (usually pretty much useless).

Good advice, for instance Sony Vegas Pro runs on crap on anything with less than 10000000000 megs of ram in the video card. Make sure to try the trials before buying!
