This is a rough outline of my upcoming MMO project. I will start recruiting for this after this week is done, I have 3 finals on the go so I'm swamped.
I will be using the Unity Free version for creating. I will be needing Programmers and some graphical artists if you are interested just PM.
Introduction
Fantasy / Real World Simulator. I know Fantasy is 'overdone' but it will have different aspects to it.
Abstract
The game is about leveling up, making your character acheive the ultimate goal. You must start as a lowly peasant and work your way up doing several different tasks and prograssing through the world.
Target Audience
The target audience has a wide area for age group (although there will be some inappropriate content) while the general gaming audience is for people who enjoy being able to take their time, enjoy what they see and enjoy new fresh game concepts
Platform
The game so far will be released and tested on windows, future platforms are pending.
Unique Selling Points
- Invention System
- Unique Armor and dying options
- Vastly expansive player owned buildings and land
- Realistic Gameplay
- Easy controls
- Stunning Abilities and Powers
Game Mechanics
Basic concept involves you being able to explore, create and kill. The game mechanics will contain a backpack for the character, which will allow the character to only hold a certain amount of items to maintain realism. The bank/house will have storage areas capable of holding everything you drop off. Once you find certain items they will allow you to start expanding your characters abilities to be able to be better in certain aspects of the game.
The game area will reveal to become larger and larger. Once players achieve a set level they can set out of one of their starting cities and start to explore and find more land and resources to create their own city. Player land will be claimed where their choosing. Once claime dthe character will proceed to trade in different resources to create city walls. Once city walls are established the player can then create buildings inside of the structure and have explorers come in and purchase items for your income. Once the city is too large they can then expand by either taking unclaimed land or paying adjacent owners for their land.
Controls
The controls will be based on the usual WASD controls, and mouse click but will also contain a variety of other keys to do other things like open your backpack, etc.
Scoring
'Scoring' in this case refers to gaining experience. The character will gain experience by finding new locations (low amount of exp.), inventing (exp. pending on item), and killing fantasy enemies and bosses, as well as finishing missions.
Win and Lose Conditions
You will lose the game by dying, there will be and end story but will not retire your character, you can continue playing after story is complete.
Level Design
3 Main areas:
- 1 Desert Starting City
- 1 Forst Starting City
- 1 Wintery Starting City
Other cities will be created by players, or may include certain break points of small outposts.
Story
The story is still to be decided.
Characters
Character Classes will be available upon achieving level 5. Once you are level 5 you can break away from your peasant status and join the working society by choosing from a number of classes. Once the characters reach a certain level subclasses are able to be chosen.
Visual Style
The graphical style is going to be complete fantasy, not as far as World of Warcraft, more along the lines of City of Heroes.
Existing Assets
No existing assets as of now.
Assets
Graphical Assets needed:
- Variations of Armor
- Enemies
- Female Gender
- Shops
- 3 Starting Cities
- Pre-designed city assets
Audio Style
No audio chosen, typical fantasy music playing lightly.
Narrative and Dialog
Sounds Needed:
Power sounds, level up sounds, mission complete sounds, run sounds. All sounds really.

Re: Fantasy MMO - Design Document
sounds interesting thus far and I do not believe Fantasy will ever be overdone. There are so many routes to take with it.
