Ideas for the Admin Panel

Post by jpoisson »

We all know or now will know to manage a game effectively you need some type of quick medium that allows you to update content with in your game with out always having to go to the source files. also wouldn't it be nice to add monsters and items in a more personal and custom feel towards your game?

Sure PHPMYADMIN is amazing but over time it can get frustrating to work with so how do we combat this???
simple we create a Administration panel? a what? it is basically a series of pages that are designed to help you manage your game much easier.
Here are a few Ideas I have tampered with.
  • Add/Edit/Delete -- Monsters/Items/Shops/Spells/etc.
  • A mail system where your players can contact you and it get recorded with in the admin panel... Avoids painful email Hickups
  • Monitoring systems that you can get reports from certain aspects of your game from. such as currency tracking, player logs, game logs.
As you see the list can go on, but how much is needed or what is will look like is really up to you as the developer of the game because you have to make the panel fit your game and not have extras your game doesn't need.

So for everyone that would like to help Halls please place your suggestions for the Admin panel of his gaming tutorial here. I am going to supply you all with a few pictures of my Project I have been working on for a few weeks.
