Forums Outdated

Post by hallsofvallhalla »

The forums have become a bit outdated and all the customization I have done has made it impossible to update without reinstalling the board completely. I can still save all the posts and users of course. I will just have to do a lot of work getting the them back in and such. Any suggestions or comments welcome. No would be the time to suggest new features or ideas.

What are you trying to do? A new theme for the phpBB-Forum or update the phpBB-Forum-software or install a new forum-software?

Just update the current forum and hopefully not have to change the theme too much.

I never used the phpBB-Software, so I can't imagine what is possible.
All I can do is to wish you Good Luck for the update(s).

I posted a forum thread few years ago saying that PhPbb isn't fit for purpose. Nice to see it's taking it's toll ^

I honestly like the old school look of this forum. A lot of the new modern ones are really cumbersome to navigate. But then again I don't surf the web on my phone like most people do; I still do everything from a computer. Old school things are optimized for desktop surfing, whereas mobile optimized make desktop surfing a bit of a pain. I'm sure it's the same in reverse. Are you trying to draw in more mobile users?

I know that Google is giving huge search benefits to mobile responsive websites.

All I am wanting to do is get it updated so we can battle bots and protect ourselves from hackers. I too like the old school feel of this and I think it looks and works okay on a phone.
