Augmented Reality

This is an interesting read. Two thoughts come immediately to my mind. Firstly, after a couple of years, Ingress is still the flag bearer of augmented reality games? Really? Its gameplay is shallow at best. Perhaps it gets deeper as you play it more, but I find it little more than a capture the flag game played in real space.
Secondly, my gut tells me to watch this space. Someone is going to have a runaway hit here sometime. If you manage to combine the MMORPG with the This is not a game (TIMAG) aspect of alternate reality games, perhaps even going numberless (which reinforces TINAG) and you might vacuum up all f those immersion junkies.
Or am I out in left field on this one?
Edit: fixed a url tag
