Level Design Inspiration: abandoned Six Flags theme park

Post by Verahta »

I saw this article and realized the pictures and setting are great to inspire a similar level design for games. If you are interested in making such a level in your game (FPS, zombies, combat, whatever)) then check this out and maybe get inspired with some cool ideas:

Atlantic City, I don't know why but it kind of reminds me of Planet of The Apes (the original).

"Damn, dirty roller coaster apes!"

Reminds me of how Stalker used photo's of around Chernobyl for its world. The one with the ferris wheel in the middle of an abandoned city, especially.

Edit: Actually also that last shot reminds me of the pier in GTA V

That part about Chernobyl reminded me of Kidd of Speed. Some of you have probably seen this before. It is a photo journal of riding through the Chernobyl and Pripyat area. The site is old as hell, as you can tell, navigation is very old as well, the pictures are fairly old and low-res, but it could still have some inspiration lurking in there. It took me a minute to remember how to navigate: the "Page X" links at the bottom of the page.

That website is unintentionally hilarious, I laughed multiple times.
