Hello everyone,
We're looking for beta testers for our new online game, Way of the Warrior (http://about.wayofthewarrior-ga.me/).
The game is a browser based samurai warrior rpg, taking some of the good points of text-based games and adding some intuitive interfaces to give a blend of the two. To see what I mean, take a look at the screenshots on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/wayofthewarriorgame).
It has been in development for a few months now, with a handful of alpha testers having helped us find issues so we can iron them out. We're now ready to kick on to the next stage of development - adding further advanced features and optimising the existing code - and have decided it's time to open up the game to anyone who would like to play.
Way of the Warrior Game - Beta
Re: Way of the Warrior Game - Beta
Does anyone have any feedback? It'd be very much appreciated!
Re: Way of the Warrior Game - Beta
Nice front page. Perhaps you could have a description for the screen shots? I can't figure what is going on in them?
Re: Way of the Warrior Game - Beta
Thanks! Assuming you mean on the about.wayofthewarrior-ga.me page, we plan to but haven't got around to adding a lightbox script with descriptions for each image to it. The screenshots on the facebook page all have descriptions however!
Here are short explanations of the images on the about page:
Battle - Disengaged
When you enter a location that is currently a battleground, you will see the "disengaged" interface. From here, you can target others with your distance weapons, engage with nearby warriors to attack them using martial arts and your main weapon, move from location to location within the battle, and flee the area. Up to 14 warriors in the same location as you are shown in the center of the interface, while up to 14 in nearby locations are shown in the bottom left and right. The refresh icon in the top right hand corner reloads these three sections of the interface.
Battle - Engaged
When you click the "engage" button underneath a warrior in your current location, you will be taken to the "engaged" interface. The warrior you are focusing on is displayed in the center of the screen, and you can now access your primary actions by clicking the icons at the bottom center of the interface. The refresh icon next to the engaged warrior reloads their information. The remainder of the interface works the same as in the "disengaged" state, so you can still travel, use distance weapons, and switch targets quickly.
Battle - Travel
If you click the "Nearby" button, the travelling interface will pop up. Large icons are displayed that allow you to travel to other locations within the battle area. In addition, small icons at the top allow you to leave the battle area altogether. To hide the travelling interface, click the close icon in the top right hand corner
Battle - Feed
Two action feeds are displayed below the main section of the battle interface, allowing you to see the five most recent outgoing and incoming actions. In order to counter quickly when someone attacks you, click their name to target them.
Hopefully that clears those up for you!
