I have been dabbling with java script, canvas, node.js and socket.io for the first time.

Using http://rawkes.com/articles/creating-a-real-time-multiplayer-game-with-websockets-and-node.html tutorial.

I made http://grimoirebbs.sytes.net/rawk/public/index.html

What I added to it was the canvas from this tutorial, and a chat feature.

I developed the chat code by myself, took me forever!

Basically you input a text, it hovers above the characters head for 5 seconds, adds to the chat log.

So much more to learn lol

Very nice!

I'd like to learn how to make a map and then allow users to build like houses and stuff on the map. :P :P

Awesome, looking forward to more of these. I second the map idea as well!

Halls,

Did you abandon this series?

I am actually thinking of redoing those as well to 2.0. Using HTML5 vs raw javascript.

I know this is late, on an already old topic, but i for one would appreciate the updated tutorial.
Have been looking at getting into a project of this kind for a long time now but never had the base on how to get it going.
Would be good to use the current technology from the get go.
Thanks :)
