Railroad Track

Post by SpiritWebb »

I thought I would give modeling another try...and I decided to go with train tracks, since I need them in my game. Anyway, here are two shots.

First shot: (distance without rivets)

Looks good =] You should be able to just group all of that and add bend modifiers and what-not to it (if you use 3DS max that is..dunno about the others) to get your turning pieces and what-not. Pretty much set up a grid of them that can easily be tiled to lay out a railroad track.
Adobe Photoshop CS4/Illustrator CS4
Adobe Flash CS4
3DS Max & Maya
PC Spec:
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (2.8ghz)
8gb 800Mhz DDR2 RAM
1gb nVidia GTX275
2TB SATA HD
Windows 7 RTM

Thanks...I am actually using Blender...but I believe there is a bend modifier in it. This would be the first complete 3d piece I have ever done...

Hehe, nice.

If you're going for semi-realism, I suggest messing up the track a little bit. Just create another tile or two with slightly altered railroad ties so it adds some variation and isn't completely perfect..nothing in this world is perfect.

Simple, yet effective.
