node.js non-installable version?

Post by Mardonis »

Howdy,

I was wandering if anyone knew if there is a version of node.js that is a non-installable version that does not mess with the registry like xampp? Trying to do the node tutorial from udemy.com. Thank you again Halls for the tutorials they are addicting. :P

Do you mean like a portable version of node.js? There is one here. I believe that should allow you to simply put it on a flash drive and develop on the go, or on reduced-rights systems. Note however that I don't think this is an official version, so you could potentially run into issues. I don't know from first hand experience, though, as I have never used it :)

Check out the link I posted, and if it works well, let us know :) I am sure some other folks would be interested in it, too!
