Re: Grinding games are boring
How about Max skills and crafts at start. Now the grind would be aquiring gear and resources for crafting but that might mean doing the same thing in a round about way. I e you are killing mobs over and over for gear which translates to being the best etc. Considering that in a regular MMO you acqu...

Re: Grinding games are boring
Well I am pretty bored of games where all you do is just basically keep on pressing the fight button or keep on pressing the do job button till your skill goes up and person who does this the longest is the best. Grinding games are boring, period. Now I wanted to ask you my fellow developers of if ...

Re: Grinding games are boring
Than the puzzle become a grind. Some players actually don't like having to pay too much attention to things like crafting. Some games have required crafters to pay attention to the progress bar when they craft by hitting key combos and players hated it. Also the game would be a puzzle focused game.

Re: Sandbox MMO Kit
I checked out hero engine and I found out the license for 99 dollars is just for one seat. I much rather spend $199 for the 10 seat license but before dropping the cash I would like to see more people interested in the project. I made a post on gamedev to see if anyone else might be interested becau...

Re: a change
I spent the first 6 years of my game development "career" working with 3d. I have no interest in returning atm, so yes 2d. The game will entail both PVP and PVE. Players will fight both other players and creatures. Not going for grind but any game that does not reward players who play lon...

Re: Sandbox MMO Kit
Ok guys, I’ve been building MMO like things for 8 years now in many incarnations on many different platforms and I’ve seen a LOT of these kinds of discussions in a lot of different places, so I’m going to pass along a little unsolicited advice. Start with your physics. Because once you’ve committed...

Re: Sandbox MMO Kit
I honestly think a kit such as this would be the most use in Big World Tech. When Big World Indie came out, there were several discussions about how it was a nice engine, but it was so raw with almost nothing included with it. There were even talks then about creating an "MMO Kit" for it ...

Re: Sandbox MMO Kit
Just an update. I am going to be doing the following this weekend: 1) Purchasing Hero Engine for a year; 2) Setting up a website; 3) as well as work on a draft preliminary set of design docs (just to give team members/contributors and idea/example nothing will final until group discussion/input) Ma...
