Re: Board Game In Progress

Hey Spiritwebb, I _LOVE_ the idea. In fact, i`ve been pondering on creating something quite similar, however instead of a tabletop boardgame I was thinking to create something digitally. I didn`t plan on the concept of "war" because end-game to me would be getting to be the first to get a ...

Re: Why Java? Why C?

Ah ok, haven`t looked at Unreal for quite some time, don`t know what`s new and what`s old.. :) Yeah, i think we need to define game developer a bit more. It can be categorized in several ways, to me there`s game logic programmers who program logic in games i.e. using the scripting interface of an en...

Re: Where to find good 3D Terrains?

+1 for world machine. A great and nifty little tool. I tried the free version and the paid version. Offvourse the paid version has a lot more features, but for a basic terrain, the free version works great.

Re: How would you do a craft system?

No offense whatsoever, but what do you know of XML parsing? Because any parser still has to do the loops for reading every line in an XML file. But instead of just splitting on a comma, you have to do a alot more then that for XML. You first need to find out tags ( regex ) inside that regex, group a...

Re: AngularJS

Haha totally agreed. My original point stands though, angular will be replaced by something new while JS itself will remain. I do like angular and jquery. Jquery wasn`t just designed better ( it could still be improved though) it offered more functionality and a great API. The extensibility of jquer...

Re: How would you do a craft system?

Haha nice :)

Yeah if it works, it`s perfect. No need to create any overhead whatsoever. Simple solutions always work better then complex solutions and since we`re programmers ( thus lazy ) this makes even more sense :D

Re: Why Java? Why C?

Oh i`m not saying that webGL is not the future, I too believe we`ll move to a place where HTML5 games will be a whole market worthy investing in, but that doesn`t mean that C++ will die, no. Like I said in my previous post, most games are scripted in any given language that engine provides, be it Un...

Re: AngularJS

HMm yeah I dont mind reading a small book for a get-to-know-said-technology book, but the long reads I had to do for uni are over. I mean, you know the kind right? The Pearsons 1500+ books for explaining every single little aspect of whatever that book was covering.. I never found it interesting, mo...
