Re: Server

TY, it looks like a good recommendation. Imotion seemed to be geared for business purposes and Wolfpaw, seems to be down.

Re: Web Community

Now having a background in coding, would you recommend Joomla, wordpress, or something else? I suppose I could just write it all in Vim or Eclipse, but I thought it might be nice to use something like Joomla to build a website. I suppose there is also software that I could purchase that would help d...

Server

What company would you suggest is a good for hosting servers? I have looked at Wolfpaw and Monster thus far. I want to have a website, forums, my personal e-mail (possibly), and host some text base games to the scale of Iron Realms/ Skotos. I am looking to build a community similar to the companies ...

Re: What code base is good code base?

Ok, I have used/played/staffed on a mud that writes their clients in Java script coupled with html4. This is what I mean. One of these muds is, Castle Marrach. You can do a Wiki search on it also. However, I have actually seen the client written in Java script. I did not explain this point well. Wha...

Re: What code base is good code base?

Sorry, I did not make that clearer. I do realize Java and Java script are different. Java script used to be called live script I believe. But it is practically looks the same as Java to me. Well, I imagine since I want to create a whole community then, it would be best to use Diku instead of Java. S...

Re: What code base is good code base?

How about live script aka Java script. I have been noticing a lot is done using that, but I imagine that it is coupled with HTML, possibly HTML 5 now. I realize what you are defining as browser based now. So, it seems Diku is the way to go, in your thoughts? I thought Diku and Java both could create...

Re: Coding, me, and phpbb

How about running phpbb3 software on my computer, Ubuntu 10.4? Does the software not run unless linked to a web page/online? I was under the impression that I could run it as a building tool for my forums then import/attach files whenever I have a server to put it on. Perhaps this is a very silly an...

Re: What code base is good code base?

I would not necessarily define my game as browser based. However, my concept of what a browser based game could be murky. It runs like Iron realm games. It looks similar to an enhanced chat room. But I suppose that is similar to what the working definition of PBBG is. I am not sure you would define ...

What code base is good code base?

I like to code my game in a language based off of Java. I thought of using Eclipse or NetBeam as a software tool to do so. Would you recommend this, Vim, or something else? I am also wondering is there any good mud code base written in Java? I have heard about Diku and LP, but I do not believe they ...
