Re: Simple Coding Question (Java) about .txt files

Sorry for the delay, I've been a bit busy with finals... I notice that the file name appears to be predefined. Is there a way I can make it so that the file name the program searches for is based off a string I input, or do these have to be constant? (So that, if I type in, say, "bob" it w...

Simple Coding Question (Java) about .txt files

Hey guys... I started playing Minecraft a week or two ago, and right now I'm trying to set up a banking company. To aid in the running of the bank, I'm trying to design a java program that I will be able to input account data into. However, it's been nearly a year since my last programming class, so...

Ok, this still isn't working. The website builder doesn't work at all either in Opera or Internet Explorer. It does absolutely nothing when I enter my login information and I can't do anything, even though the 000webhost account assures me everything's working fine.

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

Ok, it says I got my website created, but it won't let me get to the page where I can edit it... I try again later, I guess, that worked for the other problem...

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

Er, I'm getting a "Connection closed by remote server" error (looks similar to "cannot display this webpage" error that comes when you try to go online with no internet connection) whenever I try to go to Step 2 in the website creation process... Something just occurred to me, is...

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

Well, I'm going to attempt 000webhost just to get started, I guess.

http://www.000webhost.com/order.php

Should I give them my real name?
Should I make a .tk or .co.cc domain, or have them create a domain for me?

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

You mean something like this? http://www.co.cc/ http://www.dot.tk/en/pageA00.html Which one is better? What are the constraints of using these? Once I get one of these, what do I do with it afterwards? (I've also heard that searching to see if a domain name is available will cause someone to snatch ...

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

000webhost seems to have a lot of problems staying online (some reviews even say it's only working about 57% of the time). Since I'll need my site running reliably for elections and stuff, having little and predictable downtime is important. https://www.awardspace.net/signup.html? This is AwardSpace...

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

Wait a minute, what exactly would be wrong if I just stuck with the 000webs website instead of buying my own domain name? What does having my own domain name do, besides extra prestige and the right to more space/bandwith/memory/stuff? EDIT: I'm reading a lot of negative reviews on 000webhost... are...

Re: Complete newbie here. Need help with, well, everything...

no you dont need to buy a domain. you can if you like, but not required. a domain is 'indie-resource.com' a url is 'www.indie-resource.com/forums' Ok, so what would I use as my url if I went to 000webhost without a domain name? Would it give me one? Would I type in what I wanted and they'd tack .00...
