Re: RPG Combat

I think option 1) would work fine if certain animations/cut scenes (like in FF) that take a long time to display could be shortcutted by pressing esc or space bar etc.. FF Style seems like it would standing out from the crowd more.

Re: Sandbox MMO Kit

Does the terrain editor simply export into Unity with basic terrain data? (I think that is what they mean by height map) and auto create scenes squares at a preset unit size? Or does the terrain editor actually work in part with the Unity when the final game is being run? Are you planning on buildin...

Re: Thinking about studying game designing

In the coding side of things, or the level design and graphics side of things? These are two completely different section...

Seems like Unity is good choice for MMO.

Thanks for the typo fix. Actually, its a bad rep for unity mmo. The artwork is not so great and their spell effects are not that great either. Could just be their custom networking.

Re: Sandbox MMO Kit

I haven't had anyone interested on Gamedev.net. So basically Relique is you and I thus far. Unity forums could be a better source of people no doubt. Unity has some MMO kits but the network they run on seems questionable. I have some concerns with Unity in general. How well does it do with large pro...

Re: MMORPG Engine

Big World has one of the most proven servers as well but i personally do not recommend it. Huge pain to work with. Will get you access to Hero today. Esenthal is a heck of an engine. Even have a copy of that lying around here somewhere. Much of the coding at least when I tried it was c++ however. I...

Re: MMO Style MOBA

My biggest problem with MMO's these days is the combat system that most use. I understand the issues of lag and things like that but I still believe that things could and should change. Although, i'm partial for a first person camera and combat system similar to chivalry which partially fills the v...
