Re: Is Django (Python) worth it?

I've used Django. Some people swear by it. I find it a bit wonky to set up and you are on the road less traveled; which means that there is less to choose from among off the shelf apps. On the other hand, Python is awesome and once you've got over the initial cobbling together pains, you'd probably ...

Re: Game Site

I saw on facebook the other day a reality tv show studio with good income, attempting to get free music and promising only 'exposure' in return. They do that because alot of people will go for it. Undercutting themselves and others in the process. The Huffington Post also uses this business model. ...

Re: Game Site

I'll bring another perspective in on the 30%. There are situations where it favors the designer. Let me pose two possible alternate deployment methods and point out there they become money pits. Self-Service Hosting, ala Amazon AWS. If your site is very small, then you can use the free tier, but if ...

Re: Magicus Occultus

A necro'd thread for a necro'd project! #1 - I moved away from the GAE. It had a few placed where things could get computationally expensive and I had no real workaround, without seriously redesigning the game to work in ways that I did not want. Once upon a time, this was ok. Nowadays however, this...

Neverwinter Nights here!

There has never been anything like NWN, before or since. Yeah, lots of games have modding scenes, but NWN's persistent worlds were something awesome. I suspect that if more people had known about them, we'd have more NWN'like games nowadays.

Re: Hello from Montreal

Welcome! My wife did her PhD thesis at McGill and spent a couple of years living in a high rise, across Sherbrook from Place Des Arts. I spent a couple of year's worth of weekends in your beautiful city! ;)

Re: C# comparing lists

Jack, I understand this. The product that I work on is one major revision behind (.Net 3), through the dev team is planning on switching to VS2012, .Net 4 and from Version One to Team Foundation (as sprint management tool) in the next release. It is a task that sucks down a lot of man days err weeks...

Re: Samsung Note 3

Halls, how does the Note 3 compare to the 2? I've got a Note 2 for work right now, because that is the only Android phone that IT had cleared (apparently, the 4S still has a nasty bug with some of our required corporate software) and I'd specifically needed an Android phone. The stylus and handwriti...

Re: Samsung Note 3

Not at all. Unless you wear tights around they fit in any pocket. And once you go to the screen size its hard to go back. I look at the iphone and laugh. Hey Iphone5, the 90's called and want their 3" screen back! Yeah, any iPhone before 5 just has a laughable screen size, and even the 5S stil...
