Re: MMO in Unity - Node.js VS. Photon

Thanks for your replies! I’ve been looking into Photon a bit but all I’ve seen yet dealt with front end scripting without the need of server programing, meaning silly type of games like lets meet in a lobby, shoot at each other, then bye bye, log off, let bygones be bygones. What I have in mind is t...

MMO in Unity - Node.js VS. Photon

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has any experience or knowledge regarding using Unity either with node.js or Photon for MMO purposes. And if could help to summarize the pros and cons of each solution in this thread. All i think i know is that node should be slower using TCP and i'll have to use d...

Re: unity webGL game stiched to node.js

But even if it is possible to create plugin-less browser mmo in unity with photon server or something I guess the main r...

Re: unity webGL game stiched to node.js

Thanks SpiritWebb :D but i did walk that path already. Thanks Jack. I guess to make myself more clear, what am imagining is to make the 3d world part of the game in unity while the rest (more static part) of the game with some js engine lib or just js and stitch those two parts together with a node ...

Re: how to avoid cheating via the javascript console

That’s funny, I still find it a little hard to believe that all those huge html5 games out there are so ridiculously prone to hacking and cheating. Are you implying they aren't in one way or another? Definitely not, i'm not experienced enough to imply anything thats pretty much why i posted this qu...

how to avoid cheating via the javascript console

Hi, it seems to me that in a javascript game its pretty easy to cheat via the browser’s console. Is there a way to hide objects from browser users or some other way to prevent cheating?

Re: how many languages are neccesary for browser mmorpg?

Thanks Jackolantern, my picture of inner workings of these things is still pretty vague so please excuse my next question; I was speculating that, if the less dynamic parts of the game like various setups, options, stats etc. were done in php, whether it would help the server with performance regar...
